Martin in the news

Martin played Disc golf on Saturday and got into the Appleton Newspaper!

He had fun and we will definately do this next year. I love the idea of the Badger state games, they are basically an olympics for everyone.

Garden Greatness

So I saved a couple of dollars.. I bought a Leek a few weeks ago, and after eating the top of it I replanted the roots in the garden behind my raspberries. The thing kept growing, and I have used the top of it twice since then. I do the same thing with green onions, and I am always amazed that I can plant things form the grocery store. These are tough plants.

We also have our first red raspberry of the season, I am sure it will become more red and more ripe in the next few weeks.
four 0 Clocks can grow from seeds or from rhisomes, They are a perennial in their native Peru. This plant is growing from a rhisome that has been protected from the harsh winter cold by the nearby dryer vent. I love when nature and the modern lifestyle intersect.
I have wanted a Mulberry tree for the past several years. I have read about how to propagate them, and tried several methods. I got some cuttings to root, and produce buds, then they died. I attempted to put in a cutting this spring, but it also died. I was about to give up an just buy a tree, when I discovered this beautiful delicious tree growing under my line tree in the front yard.

I am so excited for this summer!!!! Mulberries!!!!! I am never going to move away from this house.

School picnic

we went to the school picnic. It was super fun!

Caleb liked to go to school with Maddie, and be a part of the class. He held Maddie's hand and walked with her into her class, let her read him a book, and then he played with toys in her class. Caleb is excited to start kindergarten in 15 months. .
Reed enjoyed walking around and being admired by all who saw him. He is very cute and fun. He is also really good at climbing into the cupboard.

new themesong

here is my new and most favorite themesong.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4ipoty30tw

I love this song.

Others have attempted to write songs about me in the past, but have fallen short. Here is a short list of the songs that sing about me.

"Valleri" by the Monkees,
this is alright, they did another song featuring my middle name "cheer up sleepy Jean" but neither was really great, mostly because the Monkees were a made up rock band/tv show. Why did they write about my names? because they were around in the late 60's, when the names Valerie and Jean were in their hey-day of popularity.

"Valerie" by Steve Winwood
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anCg5EiB2AM&NR=1&feature=fvwp
This is so from 1987s!!!! The entire song is spent apparently singing to 'valerie' in hopes that she will come back because the singer is 'the same boy he used to be' of course, this lack of maturity and personal development might have been the reason for the break up in the first place....I'm just saying. Go to therapy, maybe some college, then sing a song about it.
the new lyrics could be
"Valerie, call on me, I've overcome my commitment issues with some psychotherapy"

The Happy Wanderer -German Folk Song
I love this music video
The Chorus is "Valleree, Vallera Vallereee Valler ah ha ha ha ha haha ha ha haha ha ha"
I even know a few verses in German. My kids think that the words are about me, but of course they are just nonsense words.
